Horse transit insurance

Transporting your horse has risks, whether you are moving a horse to its new home – or heading off for an overseas competition. We have policies that will provide insurance while your horse is in transit, including by road or flying.

Our horse travel insurance packages can be used for race horses, yearlings, stallions, brood mares, show jumpers, dressage horses, eventers and endurance racers. We offer short period and stand-alone transits for domestic and international travel when you have bought the next potential superstar, or you’re travelling with your equine globe-trotter.

What does horse in transit insurance cover?

For horses travelling to other countries outside of New Zealand and Australia, transit cover is a short-term policy.

A horse transit Insurance policy can cover the death of your horse while in transit due to natural causes, accident, illness or injury.

This type of coverage would protect you against the financial loss for the established value of your horse if it were to die while being transported.

This policy will not cover any losses arising from or attributable to racing, trialling or competition during the policy period unless this use is disclosed to Crombie Lockwood at the time of arranging cover.

Please contact us to discuss your requirements in more detail, as we know that individual cover needs can vary in this area.
